Duffed up

Remember April 28th last year ?  Gillian Duffy was on her way to buy a loaf of sliced white and a pint of milk, minding her own business when Gordon Brown’s goons decided she would be ideal election fodder, a nailed on certainty to provide the ailing PM with a much needed feel good factor live on TV. The rest is history

In a sure sign of how desperately devoid of ideas the current Labour party PR machine must be, having watched her unwittingly torpedo the hapless PM almost a year ago, some cynical idiot thought Mrs Duffy might be good to go again for a bit more political demolition work – only this time properly rehearsed and ridiculously stage managed with Nick Clegg the designated target, presumably expected to suffer the same fate as Gordon.

Last years episode involving Duffy proved once and for all that the psychologically flawed Brown lacked the most basic and fundamental ability to actually speak to the public without a script and spin doctor to hand. What followed afterwards inside the car merely cemented that same public’s opinion in that he had quite simply been ruthlessly exposed as being out of his depth.

Nick Clegg may not be the most popular politician at the moment in an unpopular coalition but if this is the best Milliband’s team can come up with by way of political cut and thrust – Mr Clegg can sleep easily safe in the knowledge Ed is firing blanks.
